"I Love You"

Showing at Waukegan Art Windows until April 4, 2010, at 202 N. Genesee, across from the Genesee Theatre: Chicago artists Eva Deitch and Michael Meyer have created “I Love You,” two 4’x 4’ transparency light boxes, each depicting one of each of the artists’ hands saying “I love you” in American Sign Language (a combination of the ASL finger spelled letters “I,” “L,” and “Y”). The boxes are lit by alternating strobe lights so that the hands appear and diminish slowly, resembling a beacon which functions as yet another form of communication.
Waukegan Art Windows is the artistic response of Art-Hounds, a collective of contemporary artists in Waukegan, Illinois, to the present economic condition and to revitalize empty street-level storefront windows by installing thoughtful, high-caliber art installations.
